If you didn’t know, the legendary Dambusters crew trained for their epic mission at Derwent Dam, set in the heart of Derbyshire’s Peak District. Last week, airmen from RAF 617 Squadron, the Squadron that undertook the daring raid, returned to Derwent Dam as part of a grueling charity quest. The unit are currently undertaking a week-long challenge to run 700 miles to raise money for the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity, whose founder was commander of 617 Squadron. Good luck chaps.
And if dangerous manoeuvres on the water, combat sports or thrills and spills in the Derbyshire Peak District appeal to you, take a good look at our watersports and shooting and combat activities.
