Woodland Experience in the Peak District

This is a truly unique experience. And it takes place in a truly unique location. Welcome to The Woodland Experience!

Let’s tell you about the location. It’s a stunning private woodland, nestled away and out of sight in the heart of the Peak District. We’ll give you a clue – it’s about half way between Derby and Matlock. We’ll give you the location when you book, as we want to keep this place a secret to make sure we maintain it’s natural beauty. It really is THAT GOOD!

And we just love this bit – when you and your group are there, you get the whole place to yourselves. It’s your woodland for the whole duration of your booking (most groups join us for a half day experience.)

Let’s tell you about all the activities you can do while you’re there –

There’s a natural Assault Course. It runs the full length of the usable woodland, and it makes full use of the winding stream, steep banks, rope swings, water submerges, rope bridges and much, much more. And it’s all been created sympathetically to the natural woodland. It looks amazing, and it will throw the kitchen sink at you! It’s tricky – trust us on this. Can you get a team together and take it on? We’ll run team time trials, and can also offer individual time trials too if you’re tough enough.

There’s a cleared area where we offer Shelter Building, Bushcraft Skills and Campfire Prep. This is a great choice if you want to take things at a slower pace, or have a welcome rest from the Assault Course! Our Instructors will adorn you and your group with some fascinating survival skills over a relaxed hour or two. Get the camp fire going and let’s get a BBQ on the go.

There’s a large Archery Range, which uses the main gully running through the woodland. It makes for the ideal location for a challenging Archery Competition. Look at the photos – some of those targets are a long way out! Don’t worry, most groups that join us are beginners or have never tried archery before, so we can bring the targets a little closer if you fancy. We also provide you with re-curve bows, which are more user friendly than traditional long bows. And our Instructors won’t rest until you’re hitting those targets like a boss!

Close by to the Archery Range is the Axe Throwing clearing. This is where things get serious. Axe Throwing can be potentially dangerous, so we’ve made sure that we have a safe cleared area where the wooden targets are positioned so that everyone in your group is super safe. And you’re always in the safe hands of our fully qualified Instructors. They’ll teach you the skills you’ll need to get slinging like a champ. We’ll get a competition going to see who has the bragging rights.

Depending on how many activities you choose, we can run the whole thing as a competition between your group if you like. It puts a real element of competition into your time with us, and we’ll encourage and motivate you every step of the way. Or you can take things a bit slower and go at your own pace. We’ll steer your time with us so that you get what you want out of your time in the woodland.

In the clearing (pictured) we’ve made a chill out zone. It’s got wooden trunk seating and hammocks. There’s an area for you to have a camp fire. And we erect sail canopies if the weather is being rude. So how about getting a fire going, and putting some food on the go? Your group will be hungry after running about like idiots! We’ll provide the grill, cooking pots and utensils. You bring your choice of food and drinks. If you’re bringing alcohol that’s fine, but only for consumption after your activities. If any members of your group don’t want to get involved with the activities, they can just kick back in this area, choose a hammock, grab a drink and chill. It’s YOUR call what you do while you’re with us in the woodland.

If you want to do some cooking and make the most of your time with us, you’ll need to bring a few things with you. Such as paper plates, plastic cutlery and paper cups. You’ll probably want flasks of hot drinks, or a cooler box for cold drinks. Bring a handful of bin bags as you’ll need to tidy up and take your rubbish away with you when you leave us.

Sounds like a really unique experience doesn’t it! You’re right – it is. Come and join us for a blast in the woodland!
